
Shri Nawal Kishore Bharatiya Municipal Girls Postgraduate College was founded on October 6, 1964, by the Late Nawal Kishore Bharatiya, a resident of Chandausi in Moradabad district with the cooperation of the then chairperson of Nagar Palika.
Initially, graduate classes in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Economics, Education, Sociology, Political Science, Music Vocal and Music Instrumental were started. B Ed classes were started in 1973 and those in Home Science were started in 1984. With the beginning of MA classes in Sanskrit and Political Science, the institution became postgraduate college.
To match the fast pace of development, 'O' level computer education programme was started in the year 2001. The same year postgraduate classes in English and Economics and the following year postgraduate classes in Home Science were started under self-finance scheme. In the year 2004, technical and vocational classes – postgraduate classes in computer programming and diploma in interior designing – were started.
Games and sports are regularly organised for physical, mental, moral development and knowledge enhancement of the students. The Cultural Committee organises events like songs and dance competitions. The Educational Committee organises essay writing, debate competitions, general knowledge, computer education, etc., on a regular basis. Meritorious girls are awarded every year at the annual function and awards ceremony.
To inculcate feelings of patriotism and service among the girls, facilities National Service Scheme, National Cadet Core and Ranger Guide are available in the college. For moral development of the girls, spiritual activities too are organised.
With the dedication and hard labour of qualified and experienced faculty, the college is able to maintain high quality of education as is reflected by 90 to 100 per cent pass out rate. Girls from the college have topped the university and brought laurels to the college. It is a matter of great satisfaction that Ms Anju Varshneya stood first in MA Sanskrit examination of 2002 and Ms Swati Gaur bagged first position in MA English examination of 2003.
The college has made arrangements for awarding scholarships to meritorious and bright students and for free of cost education of the poor girls.
Keeping in mind interests of the girls, the management committee is always making efforts to add new subjects. With the efforts of the management committee, B Sc classes in PCM group (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and ZBC group (Zoology, Botany and Chemistry) and M Ed classes have been started from the year 2005-06. |
